Cosmic Jasper was originally discovered by Paul Obeniche during the mining of the first vein of Ocean Jasper. He originally called it "Army Jasper" after its resemblance to camouflage. Additional rough was discovered by Nader Kawar in 2017, the colors started to shift in color including blue, purple and red in addition to the original green and brown. He renamed it "Cosmic Jasper" after the swirls seen in many of the pieces.
You'll also notice it contains numerous cavities of druzy quartz adding hints of sparkle.
