This is a Vintage Abalone Pillbox. It is approximately 1 1/3 inches square. The back is marked “HECHEN MEXICO.” The lid is inlaid with beautiful Abalone pieces. They are very colorful and ethereal. There is a lot of depth in them. I believe this pillbox is silver plate as there are no markings indicating otherwise. The box has the same type of patina that aged silver has. This can be left as is or removed, but I will leave that up to the next owner. The box has marks and scratches commensurate with its age. The hinge and latch are in good working order. A beautiful piece for a vintage collection or everyday use.
